What are the requirements to drive for Windwalker?

Meet all Federal Motor Carrier Qualifications (which includes, but is not limited to FMCSR part 391)

Have a valid Commercial Driver License with proper endorsements in the state of residence and have no current license suspension or revocation. A work permit is never acceptable. (See FMCSR, parts 383 and 391)

No convictions of a serious or disqualifying traffic violation:

o   Excessive speeding, involving any single offense for any speed of 15 mph or more above the speed limit.

o   Reckless driving, as defined by state or local law or regulation, including but not limited to the offense of driving a motor vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.

o   Improper or erratic lane changes.

o   Following the vehicle ahead too closely.

o   Hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident or failure to report an accident.

o   Violating a state or local law or ordinance prohibiting testing while driving a motor vehicle.

o   Violating a state or local law or ordinance prohibiting the use of a hand-held mobile device while driving a motor vehicle.

No more than four moving violations in the past 36 months, and no more than 2 moving violations in the past 12 months.

Have no preventable accidents involving a fatality, bodily injuries treated away from the scene, or disabling damage to a motor vehicle within three years.

Have a minimum of one year of experience operating a tractor/trailer over the road.

Must be at least 23 years of age.

What is the Driver Pay Package?

All Driving positions are W2.

OTR Drivers are paid up to 60cpm, based on verifiable OTR experience.
Per diem is 14cpm.

Additionally, we pay Stop Pay, Layover Pay, Breakdown Pay and Detention Pay.

What are the benefits offered to drivers?

Windwalker offers Major Medical, Dental and Vision. We have a paid life insurance policy and a Simple IRA with company matching. Additionally, drivers can qualify for a profit share bonus program.

What are Windwalker's lanes?

We run all 48 states except for NYC. We do not have dedicated lanes, and ask all of our drivers to be able to run everywhere. Our goal is always to learn driver preferences, but depending on business needs, we may need drivers to go somewhere they do not prefer.

What kind of miles can I expect?

On average, OTR drivers get from 2700 to 3200 miles per week.

What should I expect for home-time?

Home-time is based on your home address.
Along the I-29 corridor, we are able to get drivers home every 7 days.

In the Northeast and East Coast, 2-3 weeks out is expected.

What kind of freight does Windwalker move?

We are a Dry Van and Reefer freight company. We primarily have customer based freight with loyal, long time customers and no shortage of freight to move. We do not have divisions of freight, so you may pull either trailer type on any given trip.

What is Orientation like?

Our Orientation takes about 3-5 hours depending on the driver and is not paid. We typically schedule it for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A typical Orientation Day starts at 9am and ends before 2pm. This includes paperwork, reviewing our driver handbook and a road test. Once completed you will move into your truck and be under a load, usually within 24 hours.

What kind of Equipment does Windwalker have?

We run Kenworth T680's, Volvo VNL860's and Freightliner Cascadia's. All our trucks are automatic with 3000 watt inverters and bunk heaters. Our trucks are mostly newer models and come equipped with a double bunk and fridge. The truck you get is based on availability at the time of Orientation. We do not slip-seat and you will have an assigned truck.

Does Windwalker allow Pets or Passengers?

We do!
·         Pets must be pre-approved by HR before riding with drivers.

·         A Maximum of 2 pets are allowed per truck and cannot be a farm or zoo animal.

·         Driver’s will be charged a one – time $300 pet fee at time of hire.

·         Passengers must be at least 48 inches in height and only 1 passenger is allowed at a time.
